Healthy Eating: Fruity Salad for your Sweet Tooth

I had chocolate-covered pretzels the other day and I try to eat junk food only once a week, but last night I was totally craving something sweet. Since I had just gone grocery shopping, I had plenty of fruit in the apartment, so I whipped up this lovely salad. “You are amazing,” I thought to myself when I took that first bite. Of course, I am not to be trusted when it comes to opinions of myself, so you’ll have to let me know how this goes if you decide to make it.

Sweet Fruity Salad


All fruit/vegetable ingredients are fresh; use at preferred ripeness and use more or less of anything as desired.

  • Spinach leaves (enough to cover a plate; this is a salad after all!)
  • One plum
  • One medium or large strawberry
  • One large handful of blueberries (about 1/4 cup)
  • Honey
  • Cinnamon


Wash the spinach leaves and place them on your plate as you would for any salad. Wash and chop the plum and strawberry into not-too-small chunks (see picture above for example) and add them to your salad. Wash and add the blueberries, top with honey as if it is salad dressing, and sprinkle cinnamon (not too much!) across the top.

And voilΓ ! Super quick and easy, as salads should be, and I promise it is sweet as can be. Obviously, you can use whatever fruits you want, as long as they’re sweet. I’m sure raspberries and/or blackberries would be amazing, and who doesn’t love peaches? You get the idea.

I know this recipe isn’t anything fancy, but I just wanted to share what I thought was a great crave quencher. I hope you enjoy! πŸ™‚

  1. I’d totally toss in the peaches. I’m not really a fan of plum.

    I never make my own fruit salad but I make my own garden salad with a ridiculous amount of lettuce, nuts, cherry tomatoes and the like. πŸ˜€

    I’ve never used honey or cinnamon in salad and you’re the first person I know who does. So cool. B)

  2. I don’t even have time to eat junk food lately. That’s probably a VERY good thing because I watch too much TV which is another way of saying eat junk food.

    I have never had a fruit salad before and you just reminded me they existed. I’ve never heard of using honey and cinnamon in salad; that sounds like a good way to make the salad more appetizing!

    But it’s too cold here for salad, I think, so I’ll have to keep this in mind for when it gets warmer.

    1. Honey is definitely amazing in sweet salads; I picked up the trick from a YouTube video last year. πŸ™‚ Also, it’s not technically a “fruit salad” unless it’s all fruit, which it isn’t because of the spinach! Just fyi. πŸ˜€ (That’s why I wrote “fruity salad”, haha.)

  3. The salad looks amazing!!! It kind of reminds me of something my mom used to make for me as a kid. I would never eat fruits, so she’d fry apples until they’re less hard and then pour honey all over the apples. Haha, all the frying probably took all the nutrition out of the apples, but they were absolutely delicious! πŸ™‚ I will definitely try your recipe sometime and reflect on the good ol’ times when my mom used to make me those apples haha >3<
