Heads Will Roll

I just woke up from a four-hour nap, which is something I am entirely not happy about. I had a bad headache when I got home from work, so I took some Advil (ibuprofen) with dinner, and right after eating I lied down for what I thought would be oh, about a half hour. Hah, yeah right. I mean, I woke up after about an hour and a half and my headache was gone. I sent a couple of tweets, and then fell back to sleep before I had even seriously contemplated getting up. I woke up again at 8:30pm. Not cool, bro. Not cool.

I think the headache came from not eating enough today. You see, I was finally able to put shoes on after a falling shower door ripped off my toenail just over a week ago, so I went to the gym today before work for the first time in eleven days. The gym was great, cool, yeah, but obviously when I work out, I have to eat more to compensate. I had a snack after I got home from the gym and brought an extra snack to work, but I was still really hungry around 3:30pm, even after eating that extra snack. Well, as any migraine sufferer probably knows, not eating enough can be a real trouble maker. That in combination with working in front of a computer screen for eight hours caused a real mess in my head.

You should have seen me making dinner. I kept thinking, “I don’t care if this even tastes good, I just need to get food in my mouth as quickly as possible.” I made a microwaved chicken and cheese quesadilla, for the record, and it tasted spectacular. Weirdly though, I could barely taste my dessert at all. I guess that’s the difference between hunger getting in the way of incapacitating head pain and incapacitating head pain getting in the way of eating a little bit more when my stomach is no longer empty.

I suppose all is well now, so I really can’t complain.

I joined Klout for a second and deleted it about a second later because I wanted to see what it was. It said I was influential about cereal. Also pancakes.

  1. Have to say your smilies made me giggle, bigtime. I love them. As for asking me where I am in Australia? I am further South then Georgina which means I get naturally colder days and nights in winter. Summer we can be on even par, but when it gets colder I live in one of the cold states we call Victoria. I live in a seaside town called Geelong (gee – long) …

OH the infamous nap. I do that A LOT! And the gym headache too. I need to eat before, during and after or I turn into a cannibal … 😉

  2. Ugh, I hate it when I nap and it goes longer than I wanted it to. -__- Because when I wake up, I feel gross and drowsy and in a few hours, I’d be going back to bed anyway. Ugh. But at least the long power nap partially got rid of your headache. I don’t often get headaches – more like dizzy spells for me, especially when I shower in the morning and don’t eat before I hop in. One time I did that and I totally blacked out and fell face forward on my bedroom floor, hitting my head on the side of my bed before I fell to the ground. It only lasted for a couple seconds, but it scared me to death. I was surprised I didn’t have any concussion to my skull when I went to the hospital the next day (though I’m thankful I was relatively ok). So, now, I try to eat a little something first when I’m hungry and I’m about to shower or do something else that takes physical energy. Sometimes, I don’t and yeah, I’m taking a risk, but I make sure my mind and body is ok first.

About the zines, I don’t know what I’m planning to do yet or how I even want my zine to look because as you may or may not know, zines come in all shapes and colors and formats. It would be nice to make copies and send them out, but I think I’m going to make one-of-a-kind (as in 1 copy only) zines and maybe mail them out for free to anyone who’s interested. I haven’t fully decided yet, but that seems the way to go right now.

    1. I don’t get dizzy, but if I shower before eating in the morning, I tend to feel nauseous. Your story about fainting in your bedroom sounds scary!

  3. I try to avoid naps at all costs because I know the minute my head hits the pillow, I’ll always end up sleeping for longer than intended, which makes me feel unproductive + groggy. Glad to hear you’re feeling better though.

The last time I joined klout, it told me I was influential in ramen. Didn’t realize the race stereotype until someone pointed it out to me afterwards, lol

  4. Jeez, sounds like you’ve been having a pretty rough couple of days with your toe, and now this. I hope you feel better, and that you managed to get LOTS of rest!

I’m not much into gyming, but I know what you mean about not eating enough and then getting a headache. I call them hunger headaches 😛 I usually end up eating a massive dinner, which isn’t necessarily the best plan in the world.. but oh well 😛

  5. I know for sure that if I am lacking food – I will get a headache. So definitely get some food in you!

Glad to hear you can wear shoes again. I’m afraid to click on that link… -_-

  6. I hate naps. If I take one then I can never sleep at night. I consider napping to be moving around a sleeping schedule. One time my nap almost made me sick because I fell asleep with the window open. After a shower. Really not cool.

I didn’t know not eating enough causes headaches because many days I don’t eat enough and I feel perfectly fine. Making food is just too much effort for me. Then again I never have time to work out so that probably makes all the difference.

  7. Ahh, that happens to me all the time. Sometimes I’ll come home from school and just go straight to bed because I’m soo tired. Then I’ll wake up like an hour later and sleepily do half of my homework. Then I’ll dose of again and before I know it, it’s morning and I still haven’t finished the other half of my homework. -_- Plus, I’d have had no dinner either! I can totally relate too when I have to make my own meals but i’m just soo tired I won’t even care if it tastes like poop LOL. I have the weirdest sleeping schedule in the world :p
I’m glad to hear your toe got better and that you were able to put your shoes on! I bet you’re really hate that shower door now though, eh? 😛

BTW, I really like how you said “Put some crap in your comment with just a click” on top of the emoticons thingy. It’s so funny and clever. I can actually imagine it in a hilarious commercial or somethin’ >.<

    What is Klout? O.O

  8. Yeah, I read about your toe in Georgina’s blog (heartdrops.org) and I hope your toe will be fine with time ticking. Well, if you think yours is the worst case of a bad toe, take a look of mine: I couldn’t almost walk and stumbled down the stairs because of a dead nail. :squint: The toe that shelters the nail is the smallest one but still it hurt. PE class was a pressure after that. I had to chase the missing horrors that my toe escaped from. But It’s all fine now. Although I still hope my toe is not counting for another dead nail. =/

Anyway, besides the dead nails and PE horrors, I also had experienced that phenomenon. When your body is not used to food shortages and whatever, it really goes to a downfall. My diet came with only bread and cheese spread for all meals and it brought fog to my head when I wake up. Sometimes, I get a feeling of Parkinson’s when it gets cold. I don’t have Parkinson’s but it is always the shaking of my hands when I try to focus on something, like holding a spoon or pouring water in a glass.

With school coming, I can’t continue it with horrifying pressures approaching. But I will still be continuing eating small meals–a little more than just bread and cheese. I got used to the meal though yet I can’t take it with monster teachers in front of me.

We all suppose that all is well now. The bad toe and rolling heads. 🙂

  9. HAHA AT KLOUT XD I joined klout too but really don’t know how it works. I just leave it be 😀 Glad that your headache’s gone! I HATE long naps too. Never had 4 hours though! I think max was 3 hours. AND GACK RIPPING OFF TOENAIL *shudders*.
