I went to bed relatively early last night, so I decided to wake up earlier than I needed to for work in order to have some free time in the beautiful morning, seeing as I was not planning to work out today. So, here I sit at 6:19am, having just finished breakfast and read a few articles and things. I had a whole wheat bagel toasted with natural peanut butter, and boy was it delicious.
Is that too much with the play-by-play life blogging for you?
I found it hard to stop eating after the bagel. I think I generally eat a bit more than I should for breakfast. Breakfast is a tricky one because when I was younger and a competitive figure skater, I would eat a bowl of cereal and then my mom would urge me to have something else, like some toast. Now if I eat a bowl of cereal and toast, I feel like I have probably eaten too much, even if I am going for a run right after. Of course, it rarely works out to too much since I usually come back from my workouts hungry.
Breakfast is hands down my favorite meal of the day. I’m not sure why, to be honest. I guess it’s because I love the food. Toast does tend to be my snack of choice, as well. That, and cereal.
I will literally go to bed at night already planning what I will eat for breakfast in the morning. Of course, I don’t always stick by that. Just last night I was planning to have a bowl of oatmeal with almonds and blueberries, but that obviously changed this morning.
The thing about oatmeal is it’s really hard to get the texture right. It’s either too watery or too dry and I am rarely able to get it just the way I like it. I can stomach it when it’s too watery and of course it’s heavenly when it’s just right, but when it’s too dry, it’s absolutely disgusting. I still make myself finish the bowl and it’s not really the TASTE that’s bad, but I can still hardly stand it.
Oatmeal is great, though, because it really fills me up. I find it heavier than most other breakfast items I eat, so after a bowl I am usually satisfied and don’t want to go raiding the kitchen for more. My favorite breakfast is probably cold cereal, but with that I just want to eat bowl after bowl. That, or I have to have quite a large bowl to satisfy myself. I’ve used up all the cereal I bought about a week ago, but I won’t buy more for another week or so. This is my incentive to go through it slower next time because sheesh, a big box of Honey Nut Cheerios should last me more than a week.
An excellent concoction I had the other day: oatmeal with Honey Nut Cheerios sprinkled throughout and some drizzles of honey mixed in. I was quite pleased with all the mouthfuls.
My favorite cold cereal lately has been Honey Bunches of Oats with Raisins. What’s yours?
As a final note, there’s a new layout up and I would very much love to hear your opinions and/or critiques. Also, please do let me know if you come across any bugs. Thank you!
